shonna + doug [wedding] 01.04.10

it's the close of our first work day of 2010 + we've got a PHENOMENAL wedding to share! and it's not our last wedding of the 2009 season so stayed tuned for a few december weddings to pop up on the blog in the next few weeks! okay, now on to shonna + doug...
if there ever was a DIY bride, shonna is surely it! i cannot even begin to tell you about ALL the big and small details she hand picked and created [mostly by herself] for their november wedding in savannah but let me try. first of all, when i say DIY bride, i mean it in all literal sense of the word...she was not only the bride but also pretty much the event coordinator + floral designer! and here's a small detail, she has a full time demanding career as a physician. wow, right?!? she had such a specific vision for all the details + knew she could pull it all together to create the wedding of their dreams [with a few special helpers]. they made their own arch for the ceremony in historic pulaski square, they wrote their own vows, they spent months collecting vintage mason jars for the florals + signature cocktails and they even infused their own habanero vodka for one of the speciality drinks. oh, and i love the vintage decanters that they found for the drinks! shonna choose florals bursting with color + texture and with the artistic visionary from doug's aunt [who happens to be a florist] fabulous designs were created! check out the kumquats on the wedding cake, i love it! she had her wedding dress specifically designed for her by cate lyon of savannah + doug's suit was vegan and made out of hemp! how cool is that? they created a southern menu that had every guest talking + found an amazing band [silver lining] that had every guest dancing! and to top it all off, they were easy peasy to work with + had such a magical connection with each other. the light was brilliant right after the ceremony + they made sure to set aside plenty of time to meander throughout the downtown squares for creative portraits on the stroll from the ceremony square to the reception square at the harper-fowlkes house. it's safe to say their wedding was nothing short of A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and we were so happy to be a part of their celebration! a big thanks to adam for trekking down to savannah with scott since he did not have his own wedding that weekend. sit back + get comfy because this post is chock full of our favorites!
congrats again shonna + doug! thanks for being so wonderful + fun to work with from start to finish! we wish you both a magical life together!
xo,
cristen + scott
